When PGA TOUR^® Pro Max Homa isn’t perfecting his swing, you might find him savoring the rich, sweet oak notes of Elijah Craig Toasted Barrel—the Bourbon he’s proudly called his “hands-down favorite.” So when he came to us about doing a private barrel pick for his avid fans, we were more than happy to tee up a tasting. The result is Max Homa’s signature sip: an ultra-exclusive Toasted Barrel pick that is a tribute to craftsmanship, collaboration, and the pursuit of excellence.

Our standard Toasted Barrel offering starts with award-winning Elijah Craig Small Batch. Then, we take it to new heights. After it’s fully matured, it finishes in a second, custom toasted barrel, where it picks up an added layer of sweet oak complexity. For Max’s barrel select, we followed the same finishing process, but with single barrels that were uncut and bottled at barrel proof. The team set aside four samples of his favorite expression, inviting him to step into the role of Master Distiller for the day.

After sampling and scrutinizing each option, he zeroed in on a standout: an 8-year-old Bourbon that was initially aged on the fifth floor of Rickhouse M, then finished for six months on the fifth floor of Warehouse H1 in Bardstown, Kentucky.

This barrel, which was bottled at 126.6 proof, delivers an increased depth of flavor, beginning with an aroma of toasted oak and sweet caramel. The finish is warming and satisfying, with lingering hints of chocolate and baking spices: embodying the signature toasted finish our classic expression is known for and amplifying every note.
